Deadline October 31, 2016 
RESULTS LETTERS by May 2017 or earlier  
 
IMPORTANT:  All work for all 3 awards should be unpublished at the time it’s submitted to us and not promised for publication either in print or online. It's fine if your work’s accepted elsewhere for publication while we’re considering it. Just let us know so we can congratulate you. But we’ll still consider that work for our monetary awards.  
 
DANA AWARD FOR THE NOVEL $2,000 - for the first 40 pages ONLY of a  novel either completed or in progress (in-progress submissions should be as polished as possible).  All types of novels accepted. Typed, double-spaced only.  
 
DANA AWARD FOR SHORT FICTION $1,000 - for the best short fiction. (Limit of 10,000 words per short story.) Typed, double-spaced only.  
 
DANA AWARD FOR POETRY $1,000 - for the best group of 5 poems, judged on the overall excellence of all 5. 5 poems per entry. Poems may be thematically related but need not be. Poems longer than 100 lines are discouraged.  Typed, single-spaced preferred.  
 
READING FEES: $15 per 5 poems, $15 per short story, $30 per novel entry
