Houston Writers Guild Annual
Short Story Contest
Deadline is 11/30/17 for fiction and/or creative
non-fiction short stories no longer than 5000 words.
The theme
of this year's contest is Outside the
Window – Tales of the World. Submissions must adhere to the topic - related
to traveling, exploring, and/or experiencing new and different cultures, and
how traveling opens one’s mind to understand and appreciate the world around
us. Could be real life world travel or fantasy worlds that explore cultural
connections and the value of diversity.
All
qualifying entries will receive feedback from our judge panel that includes
industry professionals, and prizes will be given to 1st place and runner up.
Eligible entries will be published in HWG Press next anthology.
Entry fee
is $20. First Place prize is $150. Runner-up prize is
$50.
