Makes You Mom Blog

What are we looking for?

We want thoughtful writing about motherhood, either your own or your mom’s (or even your grandmom’s). We like distinctive voices. We like to laugh (though in moderation as part of a balanced reading diet). We like to be surprised, and to be invited to think. We like these things because our readers do, too.

Specifically, we want to nurture and celebrate what makes you (or her) mom, which is partly what makes you you (or makes her her): strengths, skills, superpowers. You’ll see some examples so far in our menu categories under Mom Stories: Caregiver Moms, Education Moms, Food Moms, Funny Moms, Grandmoms, Meditative Moms, Nature Moms, New Moms, Poetry Moms, Sports Moms, Tea Moms (we’re hoping for Coffee Moms to show up, too), Travel Moms, Writing Moms. These are sorted by post subject matter, not by writer. Over time, one person may have posts that fall under several of these headings.

Take as long as you need to take to say what you need to say. So far, our posts range from roughly 400 to 1,500 words. If we like it and want it, we’ll edit it and involve you in that process.
