Rio Grande Review: The Apocalypse
The Fall 2011 issue of Rio Grande Review will deal with imminent change. It was only a few months ago that Harold Camping was convinced that the end of the world was near and total destruction was inevitable. This was not the first prophecy of total annihilation to come, nor will it be the last. Whether one takes on a very religious, intellectual, or scientific viewpoint of the Apocalypse, or this ‘great change,’ there is no question that the general population somehow feels its influence in various aspects of their everyday lives.
Submissions this fall will deal with the idea of the Apocalypse.
Oxford definition: 1. A disaster resulting in drastic, irreversible damage to human society or the environment. A cataclysm. 2. Christian Church. The events described in the revelation of St. John; the Second Coming of Christ and ultimate destruction of the world. 3. By extension: Any revelation or disclosure.
The Rio Grande Review hopes to explore this global concern/idea/fear. Send your submission (short story, poetry, artwork, essay) to rgreditors@gmail.com Deadline for Submission is Oct. 3rd 2011
