The Widow's Handbook
WIDOWS: Seeking women’s poems and short personal essays (max. 500 words) about experiences of widowhood (de facto or de jure): Bereavement (sudden or following illness/long vigil), mourning rituals, grieving, other people’s responses, coping strategies, spiritual resources, support systems (or lack thereof), evolving social life (isolation, work, friends, dating), re-building (including but not limited to finding new love or focus). We are a published poet/editor and a scientist/professor, both widowed. Manuscript will be submitted to trade publishers. Payment: contributor’s copies. Deadline June 30.
