Thriving Family Magazine: Advent Calendar
http://www.thrivingfamily.com/extra/call-for-submissions
Theme: 2012 Advent Calendar
We’re looking for a short piece for each day of Advent. This year’s theme will be “The Names of Jesus.”
-Start with a fun activity — something that can be done in about 5 minutes and includes motion or movement (not “talk about” or “discuss”) and explains the topic of the day.
-Explain the concept in simple terms.
-Mention a craft, traditional story (in the public domain and for children), a recipe, Jelly Telly video, Adventures in Odyssey story, Clubhouse craft, etc. This must shed light on the topic or relate to it in a natural way. Please do not include songs or lyrics.
Topics: First week of Advent:
-Jesus, Matthew 1:21
-Word of God, Revelation 19:13
-Son of David, Matthew 1:1
-Alpha and Omega, Revelation 22:13
-Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Revelation 5:5
-Bread of Life, John 6:48
-Rock, 1 Corinthians 10:4
(You could use a different Scripture reference for the name, but the name must refer to Jesus.)
Target: Parents with young children. The concepts should be easy for 5- to 8-year-olds to understand.
Word Count: 150 words
Rights: This will be a “work for hire,” so Focus on the Family will own all rights to the material.
Payment: $75 for two days material (300 words), on acceptance
Other details: For reference, please see the 2011 calendar.
Due date: March 15, 2012
Byline: no byline
Submission: If interested, please respond to Web.Features@fotf.org and put “Attn: Troy — Advent Week 1” in the subject line. (Note: You must include the subject line as it appears here or the submission will not reach the appropriate editor for consideration.)
