Thriving Family Magazine
Theme: Faith Conversations for Couples (couples devotions and conversation starters)
Format: Scripture from the book of Romans (please use ESV); three questions to prompt conversation; brief insight or practical life application (not simply an observation about the Scripture itself). For examples, see "Faith Conversations for Couples" at the bottom of this page: Family Faith Archive
General ideas for the three questions:
• Question to help couples know their spouse better (question that makes the reader say, “I wonder how my spouse would answer this.”)
• Question that ties to the topic of the insight/application paragraph (sort of a transition between the other two questions)
• Question to lead to deeper discussion of the topic (inspire personal reflection or action)
Note: Application paragraph should tie to marriage, not simply to a spiritual theme. Also, please keep this simple (not super spiritual) and avoid "Christianese." We don't want this to be a deep theological Bible study, but rather a vehicle to prompt positive discussion between spouses.
Word Count: 150 words per devotion (excluding Scripture)
Rights: All rights
Payment: $50 per devotion, on acceptance
Due date: Apr. 2, 2015
Audience: Married couples with children in the home (but the topic is marriage, not parenting).
Byline: Yes — in print and online.
Submission: If interested, please respond to Web.Features@fotf.org and put "Attn: Troy – Oct. 'For Marriage'" in the subject line. Note: You must include the subject line as it appears here or the submission will not reach the appropriate editor for consideration.)
