Women on Writing: Short & Sweet

Women on Writing: Short & Sweet

WOW! Women On Writing welcomes queries for our upcoming e-zine issue (issue 69) on the theme of "Short & Sweet." Deadline for Queries: April 10, 2016

This issue is all about short word count, tight writing, and having fun doing it!

Ideas include:
• Market Profiles - Interviews with editors/publishers of paying markets with a small word count (literary magazines/e-zines, contest markets, etc.)
•How-tos on the craft of writing for a particular short word count market or genre (picture books, devotionals, poetry, flash, fillers, reviews, greeting cards, gift books, recipes, etc.)
•Quick tips on craft of writing/revision/editing
•How to do something faster and easier (faster article writing, marketing, audience building, collaborating, blog building, book publishing, etc.)
•and more!

What intrigues you? We're particularly interested in topics we haven't covered before that fit anything with the "short" and "sweet" theme (or anything to make our writing lives easier and faster). Get creative!

Word Count: This issue will be different than all of our other issues. We are cutting the word count in half! This time we're seeking posts between 600 - 1,500 words.

Pay: $50 - $75 per post, on publication.

Pub Date: mid/late May 2016 (as soon as we can pump it out!)

How to Query: Please send your fully fleshed-out idea, including a rough outline or bullet points of the piece you are proposing, and any sources if applicable. If you haven't written for us before, please include your bio and links to your published clips, or paste clips in the body of the email. Send to submissions@wow-womenonwriting.com  with "Query: Short & Sweet issue" in the e-mail subject line. We will respond back to all legitimate queries shortly after the query deadline.

Additional notes: Please spend some time familiarizing yourself with WOW! Women On Writing and the articles we publish. The articles in the upcoming "Short and Sweet" issue will be much shorter, but we still want to make sure to provide solid take away for fellow writers. You can review our Writer's Guidelines http://wow-womenonwriting.com/contact.php  (scroll down to "Submissions"), but keep in mind that pay rates and word counts for this issue are as stated above.

Also note, we are NOT looking for fiction. Nonfiction articles only, please. If you would like to submit fiction, please visit our current fiction contest.

Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to your queries!
