X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction
Rosebud Magazine is honored to announce the 8th biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction. Mr. Kennedy is one of America’s most admired editors, poets, and essayists. He was the judge of the first competition and remains a valued supporter and advisor. The current contest will be judged by Roderick Clark, Rosebud editor and VOICE OVER columnist, and Robert Wake, author, and editor of Cambridge Book Review Press. As judge Clark observes: “Paper is flat and the world is round. Telling the truth about the world requires both discipline and imagination. The winner must display both.”
Deadline: October 15, 2018
Author submitting the best piece of original, unpublished nonfiction will be awarded $1000, publication of the work in Rosebud, and three copies of the contest issue. Four runners-up will receive $100 and publication. Ideal length is 3500 words or less. Longer pieces up to 4500 words will be considered, but are not encouraged. There is a $20 entry fee per piece submitted.
