Bible Advocate: Faithfulness
The focus of the Bible Advocate in 2021 will be “Faithful.” Unlike recent years, we’ve decided not to have sub-themes for each of our six annual issues. This is good news for writers: You are free to submit an article on any subject of your choosing. Please be sure to read several back issues in our archive.
“Faithful” is our overarching theme for the year, but examining this glorious, powerful word is limitless. It spans the grace and truth of our Lord God and our responsive relationship with Him. Faithful, then, refers first to God. Like Jeremiah, we are living in troublesome times, but just as the prophet humbly confessed at Israel’s lowest moment, we, too, look to our Lord:
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22, 23, NKJV). But faithful refers to us too. Having experienced God’s faithfulness in Jesus Christ, we must respond to Him in kind: “As servants of Christ . . . it is required in stewards that one be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:1, 2, NKJV).
