Saturday Writers Prose Contest: Mountains

2022 Contest Theme: Our Earthly Home
Prose: 2022-word limit Poetry: 50-line limit
Word counts are determined solely by Microsoft Word exclusive of title.

Remember the theme, Our Earthly Home, is a guideline to help you generate a story! These topics are meant to help not hinder your writing! We are just looking for anything that even hints at our monthly theme. Such as the story can take place on a mountain or in a forest or maybe there is a mountain on a label of a water bottle. Maybe the forest is a bunch of broccoli on your plate! Maybe your character was in the car when it passed a sign for an underground cavern. Maybe there was a movie on that took place in farmland. No matter how big or small the element is in your story it is enough! Don’t get hung up on trying to write the prefect story related to the theme and instead write a story and sneak the theme in!

Need help coming up with an idea? Suggested highlights are next to the theme below and we suggest Googling the monthly topic and you will be flooded with information sure to spark an idea!

Prose deadline: 02-26-22
Entry fee: $7 for nonmembers
